Default 3.92 Diff Problems

2010 Ram 1500 Bighorn. Problem fixed after second pinion/ring gear/bearing rebuild. NO help, gear whine returns at 50Mph tires chirp when turning. Replaced truck with a new 2013 model. The new 3.92 diff did is OK now, no gear whine at 50mph. A bulletin came out 2 days after I traded the truck. Drive shafts falling out (2009-2012 models) due to pinion gear failure because of missing adhesive patch needed on the pinion gear nut.

The retainer clips or as u say c-clips have nothing to do with 3:92 which is the gear ratio. it has to do whether or not you have a limited slip differential or an opne one(one-wheel peel).

In order to change the pinion gear which is the small gear all the way in the back, you must remove the ring gear which is the larger gear on the left. The only harder part to change the ring gear would be to remove the 10? bolts that hold it onto the LSD carrier. I'd be very surprised if the mechanic didn't change the ring gear along with the pinion gear as they are a matched machined set, although that would be very dealer like while being under warranty.
