I've engaged/disengaged 4hi at 60mph many times. Never an issue. I've even done it faster, but we won't go there since it's ideally "not safe" to be going that fast if 4wd is needed, otherwise you can be going 100mph and engage 4hi no issue's. Again, i won't go there....hint..hint...
Now, 4-lo is another story as it uses a different set of gears which is why nuetral is needed. Both my Cheby and my Ram have needed nuetral and even reverse to fully engaged. No use of reverse??, you need to make a revolution or 2 of the tires to mesh the gear properly. This means that if you are already stuck, 4-lo is not your friend.

engagement is the same, push or stick 4wd. The only difference is stick is old school and makes you work harder than needed.(stick you do have feel) And what does 4wd have anything to do with manual trans??? Kinda offtopic of engagement.

yeah a little off topic but when driving a manual all you have to do is clutch it and stick it in 4wd. HI or low makes no difference unless you're a retard and try to put it in low going to fast. none of the stupid stopping, putting in neutral oops not engaging put in in reverse crap.
ok i'm done ranting sorry bout the hijack.
