Exclamation Battery Life?

So what are the tell tale signs that a battery has met it's end? Mine was fine then wammy just like that.I couldn't even tell you how old it is.The truck just clicks and the tach and speedo go balistic, when I try to start.I thought this would be a gradual thing any ideas, sc flashpaq gave me a tranny mil, and three codes for a low battery. Battery is out and on a trickle charge.I'm stumped as too wnat else I can do,short of buying one.

Mine is a mopar battery and dated for july 2001. My truck is an 02 and has never had a problem so I dont know how long they last. Knock on wood.

Take the battery to a parts store and they can do a load test and tell you if you need a new one.

most batteries life expecatncy depends on weather conditions and starts

typical average is around 5 years.
i have seen oem batteries defective from the factory, and ive seen them last as long as 8 years

Might try to charge it then have it load tested. 5 years is average for an oem battery as mentioned above. Had the factory battery go over 8 yrs in a 96 Windstar that I had. Might have the alternator lead tested on the truck just to make sure it is up to par. Sounds to me like perhaps a plate has shifted and shorted out a cell.

i had the exact same problem my battery just died, no warning. but i know most 12v battery are just made up of 6 2v battery's so if i 2v bank fails it will still run on 10v witch is just enough to start the truck then when another 2v bank fails thats it.

i dunno what happened but it reads fully charged on the charger, i'll give it a try but waiting on daylight. gonna do a power wire while it (the battery) is separated from the truck. i'll shop for another battery soon, I don't screw around with batteries.
