I was told to swap mine out to help prevent pinging/knocking w/ the performance tunes and b/c it would help make more power. I wasn't getting any knocking but it's a precaution, similar to the way I have my fan wired on high speed w/ a big relay when low speed would work just fine.

 

Tom, you can also do a IAT sensor mod (incoming air temperature) with a resistor. My temp runs about 1/6 cooler after putting it in. There was some discussion on how they are different but I dont remember the exact details. Your engine wont allow for the higher fuel/air mix with the IAT mod until WOT so unless you are heavy on the foot it wont be that much of a difference
