Default Manual Swap?

I am really not a fan of automatics. I like to have control of what I'm driving and maybe an MPG boost from the stick. I was wondering if a manual swap was possible. I have a 2005 1500 Hemi 4x4 Reg. cab Longbed. I know the 2500s have a stick with the Hemi. Would it be possible to swap the tranny into my truck? I assume the PCM would have to come over too. I can't find anything on the internet about this. Any ideas?

Weed beat me to it. It has been done, at least by someone at HTC. I plan to swap my tranny eventually, but not 'til I get some priorities knocked out first...
The FAST tranny controller is another option. http://www.compperformancegroup.com/.../08_05_10.html

I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread as it is 25 pages, but I'm pretty sure that's for the viper tranny in a 2wd...

well your gonna need a parts truck.... a aparts truck thats all ready a manual, so its pointless, if the manual transmssion truck needs work, sell the automatic and fix the standard trans truck

the hemi has 3 versions of a manual transmisson, a G56, anothier getrag version, and the names is eascaping me on the 3rd, I must warn you that depending on your knowledge or expectations, a 6sp manual behind a hemi is not going to give you a NASSCAR racer.

you will need the complete drive train of a 2500 hemi 6speed manual, u joints, drive shaft, slave cylinder, pedals, nutrual safety switch, rear u joint on the 2500 drive shaft may not fit the the rear diff on a 1500 axle.

I curse dodge for not offering a 6apeed with the 2010 hemi, no 6speed with the 4.7

Oh I'm not worried about it being faster. I just like manuals better. The main I think is just how the PCM is going to work. If I had the powertrain from the 2500, could the PCM be swapped over as well? I keep reading other posts and I'm getting mixed answers on that.

I agree with you 100%. All the auto makers are charging more for new trucks and giving you less choices.

Im not sure, if the doaner ram pcm plugs into the wiring on the automatic 1500 ram, you good to go, but if something changed with the plugs, or wireing betwean 2004 and 2009, you may be in more trouble thans it worth, standard or automtic is going to use the same pcmn, throttle by wire is anothier head ache, 2006+

If you could fine the same year as the 1500 ram in a 2500, you should be good to go, and the 6speed hemi combo is by no means slow, just more geared for tourqe ..
