Welcome Rick, the "crown" gear is called a "ring" gear here. The tooth ring between the ring gear and carrier is a tone ring, which is what the sensor reads. (VSS/RWAL). Sounds like someone has worked on the rearend and didn't use loktite or what might be called "thread retaining compound". My thought is to clean up everything and replace the bolts using a loktite compound and torque to correct tightness. Good luck...

Sounds like metal fatigue if it wasn't originally torqued correctly or a bad a batch of bolts that should never have been installed to begin with. This is the first I have heard of this problem on the Dodge.

this is what i think to, i called the dealer overhere, and the will try to get it fixed under warenty, but for some stupid reason, it seems that any vehicle sold outside the US hase no right to claim any warrenty, unless sold by an official dealer.....

problem.. the Ram is not sold in Holland via the dealer

you might expect Dodge to be proud enough of there product to give warrenty no mather what.

anyway, i will first replace these bolts, and see what comes of that..
normaly it would be replacing them 1 by 1 and them give them the right torc?

so i do not have to take the complete axle appart?

can i order them over the internet anywere?

bythe way, thanks for the qiuck replay's and advise all of you...

Im not sure where you can order them from over here and they ship over there. You do not have to take the whole rear end apart though. But if you have a bolt stuck in there and cannot get it out then you may have to pull the differential to extract them.

If you can't get the bolts from the dodge dealer $$$. you might try a Nut & Bolt (fastener) store and purchase some high quality bolts there probably for much less then the dealer.

The hard part is that the OP is in Holland - I'm pretty sure that they're almost exclusively metric over there, so the right bolts might be hard to get (I'm assuming that the Dodge 9.25 axle uses US inch-type measurements).

Tom,
We can readily go to a fastener store here in the states and buy or order all kinds of hardware. The same can be done in all modern countries. Hell, when I am in the Philippines and have found quality hardware from various sources. Not easy, but it can be done. Europe, I wouldn't think would be a problem at all.

i cant seem to find the thread pitch or bolt size but you torque it to 156 N·m (115 ft. lbs.).
