Default Trailmaster Lift Problems!!!!

OK just got my truck back from having the trail master lift installed and the passenger side tie-rod end is within 1/128th of an inch from the stock 20" wheels not touching ( anymore) but way too close for comfort. also now i just realized my 17" wheels wont fit on the truck because the offset touches the tie-rod and personally i think if i threw on some tires that the girth of the tire would hit the knuckle...... any suggestions???

the guy i had do the lift has been doing it since he was 15 and owns his own truck repair business

ok so i figured out the problem, the kit is fine, its just they screwed up on what it fits on. the kit stated it will fit a stock 2008 1500 with the stock wheels.... but it also says not to use a wheel with a back spacing of more than 4.75 well the stock 20" wheels are 5.75 back spacing wtf already!!!! and the 17" wheels dont fit either cus they say in the instructions u cant go smaller than a 18" wheel since it will hit the tie rod. what dodge was trail-master using when they said this fits on a stock truck since no stock wheels really work with this kit!!

Did you get an alignment? Im wondering if that would help

I would just buy a set of wheel spacers...easy and cheap and no more worries! It would be the easiest fix I think

BTW it looks good man, how much it set you back?

btw i was able to get the lift 4 $880 its actually a very well built and put together lift kit for the price, granted a BDS kit is prob better but im not really wheeling this although i feel that this kit is def strong enough to take that kind of abuse just wish the knuckes were set up so i could use the stock wheels

Any update on this? I was thinking about getting the same lift and putting some aftermarket wheels on mine. I have a 2008 ram 1500 QC 4x4 with 20's. Also, where did you find that kind of deal?

MOST every kit I've seen that allow you to run 35s with the stock wheels supply their own tie rod ends that are shorter and a lot beefier (thicker) than the stock ones (and are also GREASABLE).
They require you to cut some off the end of each tie rod to move them in about 1 1/2" on each side. As you can see from the OPs pic, there is still plenty of thread left and especially so because the supplied ends are a bit shorter.

I know I had to with my Rancho kit. As you can see (in my pic) Rancho supplies Moog ends with grease nipples. I didn't use the stock wheels, but with my Mickey Thompson wheels there is a TON of room.

Now I ain't trying to sway you on what lift to buy, but these are REPLACEMENT ends that Rancho sent me after one of mine failed - 5 YEARS AFTER I INSTALLED THE KIT. They not only sent me the one to replace the bad one but ANOTHER for the other side - FREE OF CHARGE!
