Default Air conditioning related to window defogger

I have noticed that the A/C runs while the window defogger is enabled.
Is this normal, has anyone noticed this?

Yes everything does it. It dries the air so it removes the moisture from the windshield. It wouldn't work as well with out it.

Yep....so remember, if you want to save a few MPG's............ Turn off your de-fogger as the AC is running.

Just switch the defrost to off, as there is no way to disable the AC when the heater is on the defrost setting that I know of.

You really need the compressor on. Really no point to bypass it.

the compressor will have a low-ambient temp. cut-out switch anyways, so when it's cool enough outside, you're compressor won't start regardless.
