Advice - Trinity vs DSP vs Superchips
I've searched and found a trinity nib for $400 but in my case (an 2004 ram 1500 hemi so shift points "coming soon") i'm not sure it's going to be worth it.
The superchips has shift points for me for about $300-350 w/ $40 extra for shift points included. Plus it comes with great support.
The DSP has custom tunes but no shift points for me. These I could fine used for $225-275. Plus support isn't as good as superchips.
The trinity has what i want IF the shift points pulls through but you never know. They may never get around to it. The custom tunes isn't a big deal to me. I'm more a set and forget kind of guy but it would be cool to tinker.
Hmmm......Any thoughts?

I have both a DSP and SC. Here is a comparison that I did between them.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...recommend.html
Also, if the trinity gets shift points for the 04, then so will the dsp, they used the exact same tune. The major advantage of the Trinity over the dsp is the display. You have a display the has ******* gaugues for everything that the dsp can datalog.
For an 04, I would go with the SC, because of the ability to adjust the shift points, as long as you do not have plans to do a cam swap. If you plan on a cam, get the diablo.

I have had them all and the Trinity is the best IMO. I have had a SC 3815, 3865, DSP U7137, DS Trinity. I also have had Innovate LC1 and OT1 as well as Zeitronix ZT2.
The SC products are good. But having to but the tuner for X amount and then pay another X amount for trans tunes is boarder-line OK. But Ive been reading where they may charge more (again) for trans pump line pressure options. So now thats getting a bit too much for me.
I chose Diablo over all because they can do custom tuning which is what i was looking for. However the Trinity is far better a device than the Predator. Highlights of it is it can read transmission temps (no need for buying/installing external gauge and sensor) and it has a plug for 2 analog devices to be added.
When you get into custom tuning for maximum power/performance or mileage, you need something like the Diablosports Trinity. Having a DSP is nice and can datalog but that also means you need the Innovate LC1/OT1 to monitor and log AFR v/s RPM to get accurately tuned. This also means you have two different logs to give to the tuner (person). So i sold all my gear and got the Trinity so I can plug my Innovate LC1 directly into the Trinity and have my AFR log included in the Diablo logs. So now everything is in one log that i can give to my tuner.
SC can datalog but why bother when there is nothing you can do with it. Sure, you can identify something is wrong but then what? You cannot make any adjustments. There are no tuning capabilities but yeah you can change shift points.

Mikel responded over at diablosport.com saying that there is no eta on the shift points for the trinity. The custom tuning would have been nice but the shifting is more important to me so I went with the superchips 3865. It should be here today. It seems a few have had success with stacking so I may look more into that.

No way I would have a SC3865 over the Trinity but glad you found something that will work for you. If shift points are that big to you then you could always take the column shifter off, replace it with a floor shifter (B&M) and manually rolls your shifts. That coupled with a modified valve body and Sonnax Trans Line Booster is a great way to over come it and still use a better tuner like the Trinity.

I'm having second thoughts about the 3865 tuner. The line pressure still seems soft, like stock. Since I have an 04 i have no adjustment except for WOT and that no good for normal everyday shifting. Superchips offers a 30 day full money back guarantee but autoanything.com says i have to pay a 15% restocking fee to return it. Can i just return it to superchips directly? Anyone run into this?
Secondly, does the dsp or trinity tune do anything to raise line pressure? I may be better off going that direction if they at least offer some improvement over stock shifting.
The valve body mods that have been recommended seem a scary job to tackle. I'm mechanically inclined, (tune-ups, brakes, etc... ) but I'm worried I may mess that up. The line booster seems doable.

for one theres a free mod pretty much that increases your line pressure check the diy section, the 3865 and your yr you can adjust when you want your truck to shift hence the advanced trans tuning that you paid 40 bucks for its the best thing since sliced bread my truck had issues shifting right i put this on and my truck sifts like a dream.....the pluses dsp have are custom tuning which ive heard s/c is gonna see about trying to get into this as they realize the lose business over it....and besides dsp cant help my 4.7l anyway...but superchips did... woke up the beast inside along with other mods but thats all a plus anyway.....
