Default exhaust smaller than stock?

So I actually crawled under my truck today and saw that the exhaust shop put smaller piping than what I told them to. They welded a 2.5in pipe on my stock 3in. So my cherrybomb is actually a 2.5in and 2.25 dual out. Will this cause any long term problems or will it be fine? If not im going to another shop to do a 3in. Also the piping is crush bent not mandrel, so at the skinniest point its 2in.

SIDO or DIDO? Was your Muffler a 2.5" in or 3" in, If it was 2.5" in they would have had to reduce it.

To answer your main question, Yes I think it will make a difference, although, minor. The stock muffler vs Aftermarket will mostly negate that though.

ITS SI/DO and the pipes going out are crush bent. also none of the pipes are lined up correctly they go into the stock pipe at a slight angle.
EDIT: the muffler is 2.5in 2.25 out

Did the shop provide the muffler? If they did and it is the wrong muffler, I would have them correct it. If you supplied the muffler and simply don't like the work, then I would find a new shop and do the whole thing again. Believe me finding shops doing anything right is a challenge. Good luck....

They supplied the muffler. Sadly, I told them to do 3inch but didnt get it in writing Mainly I just want to know if this could damage anything. The truck isnt stock and I use it to tow so I want everything to be at its best. You get what im sayin?

The 2.5" muffler to dual 2.25" isn't that big a deal, I'd be much more concerned about crushed down bent pipes at 2" though.
Sounds to me like you got a "rush in/rush out" bargain basement job...

Yeah I agree. But if I said i wanted 3" then there had better not be anything on my truck smaller than 3". I dont care if it was in writing or not. If that was what was discussed and agreed on, then thats what it should be.

I would take it back and have them redo it.

I doubt it will do any damage, maybe you lost a little power. Like Weed and others said take it back and have them line everything up properly and get the 3" pipe and muffler. Mandrel bent will likely cost you more, that's up to you if you want that.
