Default Command start acting goofy

Problem started this morning. I hit the button for the factory command start on my remote and the truck starts. Runs for maybe 5 seconds and then shuts off. Restarts, runs for 5 seconds and shuts off.

Got in my truck and hit the brake to over ride the command start and when starting it with the key the red security light between the speedometer and the temp guage would flash when the truck is running.

Any ideas?

You can try downloading thr service manuals from the link in my signature and go through the one for your truick and see what you can find. Are you having any issue starting, idling or driving the truck?

Truck runs and starts fine with the key. It's just when I use the remote starter it does this.

Any further diagnosing methods I can try to try and narrow this down?

Default autostart

check the safety switch for the hood, its known prblem with dodge. Its a switch that doesnt allow the vehicle to remote start with the hood open. Sometimes the switch acts up, open the hood and the close it again.

Yeah, the RS is detecting something it doesnt like and shutting down. Or it could be the other way like said above and not detecting something like the hood or door closed or whatever. Either way, it seems it is just related to the RS. Did you get any manuals with it?

I got the dodge owners manual and that...but as far as I saw there was nothing that mentioned anything about the RS.

Two options are bringing it to the dealer and paying $110/hour labor for them to diagnose.....or buying a new system, replacing the POS factory system with a good two way starter system.

Hmmmm...whatever will I do?

try the hood pin. open the hood and press the pin down with your finger to see if it starts and stay running. i had the same problem more or less. mine just beep the horn and after i checked the pin it was bad. i put a rubber groomet on the top to get more pressure from the hood and problem fixed. the dealer wanted $60.00 for the pin. good luck....

The truck DOES start when I hit the RS. However it shuts off almost immediately and then refires. Shuts off again almost immediately. Then tries to refire again. I've never let it go past this point however.
