remote starter issues
My compustar remote start/alarm does this exact same thing on my car. But opposite only when the car is exremely hot (ie between runs on time attack course). I never did figure it out. I think it might have something to do with the altenator voltage output in extreme temps ??? I dunno
This is a thread im very interested in what the senior guys on this forum have for a answer.

Try (when hot) to leave your headlights on for 10 mins (to drain the batt) then do a remote start.
I am having same problem, start and stop, start and stop. And I think my is directly related to the fact that I have a "door ajar" light all all the time. All doors are closed and I don't know what's the issue.
Weedahoe, where could I find the hood pin switch? I am thinking, the truck thinks the hood is not closed. I was cleaning the engine bay before this got started. Could I have knock something loose?

If the door ajar light is on all the time then you may have a bad or broken wire somewhere as the IC reads the door latch sensors to see if they are closed.
The hood pin switches are usually on top of the fender at the front.

Just did the Plenum fix on my vehicle and had the neg. battery cable disconnected for two days. Now when I try the remote start, it cranks, starts, and then shuts down immediately. It will do this three times and then I assume it times out. Anyone familiar with this? The unit was installed in the vehicle around 2003 and has worked perfectly. The unit is for "start" only, no alarms, door locks, etc.

Which system is this? If it's a Viper R/S system or an AVITAL r/s system, there is a tachometer wire that most installers don't bother running to an injector or the Tach wire (if available), so they use the built in feature to check voltage coming in which might need to be recalibrated. (newer systems call this "******* Tach" but the newer systems work differently by just sensing even the slightest increase in voltage.)
What most installers do is find a wire that only has voltage when the engine is running and then they set the R/S unit to "voltage sense" mode, and then they set a threshold for it, which is usually 13.0V to 16.0V
All you'll need to do is remote start the vehicle and as soon as the parking lights come on (or 10 seconds pass), press the r/s button again to shut it down.
Wait 30 seconds and try to remote start again.
This is just my preliminary guess as to what the problem is... It will help me help you if I know what brand and model remote start you have....

Thank you for your response. Actually I found the problem this morning. When I was doing the engine work over the weekend I moved and tugged on alot of wires. Seems that I had partially unplugged the connector that they had run to the coil (perhaps for a Tach. signal) Pushed in the connector... All is well!
Thanks again-
P.S. It is a "Valet" remote start system installed in 2003.

I'm even happier that whoever installed it did the right thing and used a dedicated ignition wire
