Default power trailer tow mirror

Hi Guys, My '06 Ram 3500 has the power trailer tow, heated mirrors. It seems lately they are a little sluggish when adjusting them but with a little help they work. It seems that they may need a lube on the pivots or what ever is in there, Has anyone had these apart to correct this problem, I sure don't want to go $600 for a new pair!!!!!!!...Thanks, Ed

Maybe 250-ish a pair but IDK where you are getting them for 600....lol

Either way, you can take the glass off and lube them up if you want.

The motor is probably going out. I bet you can find a matching electric motor alot cheaper than the whole mirror!

OEfootball took his apart maybe he will chime in.

Weedaho, I did find foreign replacements for $199.00 bucks but the Dodge OEM's are muck higher. Had a quote for $327 ea, this morning I found some OEMs' on ebay for $367 a pair + shipping $404.59, a durn good price. If you can get them (oem)for $250 ish I shure would like to know where. I tried some "replacement parts" to use on my '95 Ram, won't do that again!!!!????????

Matt99, the motors keep running, I can hear 'em but it just takes a little help to move the mirror, like they are binding or some type of clutch or coupling is slipping???

Default Power/Heated Tow Mirrors

I just ordered the power/heated tow mirrors for my Ram 1500. AM Auto Parts has them for $214 a pair. They are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I am skeptical of them due to the low price, so I will let you know how they are once they arrive. From the picture, they look just like the factory ones that sell for hundreds more. The photo on the AM Auto web site shows them flipped up in the tow position.

I bought mine on ebay for $225.00 and they work perfectly so far. Have only had them for a couple of months, but so far so good. The only difference over the factory Mopar one's are the defrost emblem on the glass. Mine are also power/heated. Let me know if you can lube them or get them fixed... Could be useful information for a possible future problem.
