Default Infinity Issues

I'm an old guy...and don't really care about thumpin' sounds, so the Infinity system has been just fine for a while. I recently decided I want an aux jack and found a Pioneer with bluetooth and all the other goodies so I picked it up. I picked up a harness to make it all plug and play but as some of you may already know...that's not the way it went down. Powered up OK, but no sound. Re-checked everything then called a local shop. He says no problem, needs an amp bypass thing so off I go to let him finish the job. He's workin' away and then goes online for a while then makes a call to his bud and then says it needs a Data Buss thing...??? And adds that the whole thing may need to be rewired! WTF?? $200+ for something that may not even work!

What's the deal Gurus?

I put a new JVC with all the goodies, in my 2005, and it was pretty straight forward. Got the kit from Crutchfield, and wired it up myself. I have been doing things like this since I was a teen, so I have some experience. But I mean I didn't run into any of the CAN buss stuff like the newer vehicles have. Then again my truck doesn't have a factory installed Infinity system. I just can't imagine it would be that complicated on a 2005.

I think the 06-up have the can-bus issue. Sounds like your amp isn't either getting power or the 12v trigger.

You are correct, except they started in some of the last 05's...learned that today as well. Already tried the 12v part.

It has 12v main power and 12v trigger power at the amp? If so, perhaps the amp has just failed.

I don't think so, when I reinstall the stock Infinity it works fine.

wow, what a pain... this is why i'm glad i just replaced my blown infinity speakers with OEM. It's not the greatest stock system, but it beats spending hundreds of dollars. Good luck!

This is a common issue and a common occurring thing. As said above, the OEM amp is not getting the remote 12v turn on and therefore is not turning on. Either do the wiring correct or do like i did and run new 14ga wire to the doors.

Just an FYI...I ended up running new wire to the speakers and hooked up the Pioneer DEH 7300BT and it sounds great. I may add an amp in the future (already have eyes on a 300 watt) but for now it's all good.
