Glad you got it quieter, didn't think it would happen w/o new gears. I wonder if the side adjusters not being tight enough is all you needed, could be a key bit of info a lot of installers are missing.

yeah, it's not quiet, but doesn't make as much noise and doesn't sound like it "changes" if you know what I mean. I'm sure if i had an exhaust on it, I probably wouldn't hear it so it's not as loud as it used to be. Definitely feels better. Thanks for the compliments, guys and sticking through it with me!

Areinike I need some advice. I'm having my dtt and 4.56 gears installed. They are having problems with a slight whine at 40-50 cruising and decel. Sound familiar? I suggested that they torque down the side caps to 150 and they looked at me like I was crazy. Are you having any problems since you last posted?

Chan, have your backlash set to 0.008 and definitely have those side adjusters set to 150 ft./lbs. 75 ft./lbs is probably good for used bearings. Your backlash will increase when new bearings wear in as much as 0.002" if you don't have those side adjusters torqued. My bl is actually set to 0.008. Must have read the dial wrong and thought it was 0.010. No noise on accel, noise on decel and cruise between 40-50 - yep - that's right where mine is at. Patterns are centered, slightly towards toe on both drive and coast. Do you find a sweet spot right where it's the loudest? Mine's right at 46 where I let off the gas a hair to maintain speed with low load ... that's the loudest.
