okay guys im new here.... I just bought a 06 mega cab with the hemi it has 33k miles on it. driving it normally i got a check engine light and trans went into safe mode. read the code and was a p0733 p0734 incorrect gear 3rd and 4th. cleared the code and drove it with o/d off and everything is normal other than not in o/d haha.
turned o/d back on and same thing happened... what do you guys think the deal is... i should tell you that my truck is lifted 12" and has 41" tires on it so this could be the culprit.. i was thinking maybe it needs a programmer to fix the tire size and shift points... what do you guys think? also I am going to do a full service and change both filters as i dont know when it was done last. any help is appreciated!

Yeah, I'd go ahead and do the full service on the tranny first, but with 41s on it the shift points must be a mess without any kind of a tune. I hope you at least have 4.56 gearing in the diffs to help out that tranny a little...

 

it has 5.29's front and rear.. i thought that may be with the 41's, different gears the shift points are all goofed up.. what would be the best programmer to buy for this?
also I should mention that the trans fluid is clean and smells great, still going to do the service though and filters. guess i wont know until i get the programmer done.

 

That code usually means that it is seeing slippage in 4th gear.

 

thats kinda what i though, BUT when you get up to freeway speed with OD off and then turn it on with NO throttle it throws the code so it cant be seeing slipage can it?

 

any other ideas?

 

usually when you get p07xx codes it is time for a trans rebuild.

Where did you get the 5.29 gears from.

Are you 2wd or 4wd?

 

its a 4wd, i was told it has 5:29's in it, im going to verify this weekend.
its so weird that it works perfect with o/d off no issues, when o/d is turned on on the freeway (o/d is off up to this point until freeway speed) click it in and everything is dandy! doing the trans service saturday with filters so that may help.... also could it be a input or output speed sensor and is there a way to test these to rule them out?
