Use whatever weight the manual requires - probably 5W-20. If you live in a very cold climate, 0w-20 might be in order. BTW, synthetic probably won't quiet the tick.

From what I have read, it it the timing chain tensioners and synthetic oil won't cure that or most any other ailments.

My 05 has been making the ticking noise since it had 60,000 miles on it. It now has 168,000. Hasn't gotten much worse. It did use to scare me when it first started, it was in winter and really cold-didn't stop for over 5 minutes. Now I just listen to it,. and it goes away when warmed up. Havent done anything to the motor other than 5 fuel injectors, and regular oil/coolant changes and maintenence. BTW, I tried both the Lucas regular additive, and the synthetic additive, and neither one made any difference. Back to running Shell rotella T 5-40 synthetic, as I run that in all of the work vehicles.
