Default Out of Alignment Already

Hey everyone! I have a '04 1500 4x4 with only 12,000 miles and it's already due for an alignment. Got it in March of '04, so you can see I don't drive it often and it's pretty much "babied". Is this common at such low mileage?

Thanks
CAZ

Depends on the road conditions. Pot holes, bumps in the road from expanding/contracting. And of course you use your truck for something it was intended for, off roading.

You do not say why you are having it realigned. What are the symptoms? If peculiar tire wear, it may have been misaligned to begin with. It wouldn't be the first time a vehicle has left the factory incorrectly set up. If the truck is driving wonky it could be a faulty tire.

More info?

All the best.

5K on my 05, if the road was always straight I would never have to touch the wheel. But it would sure take a long time to get back home.....

I just got my new 05 Ram 1500 4x4 quad-cab and it also seems to be out of alignment from the start. I took it in and a tech drove it and confirmed that it was pulling to right and had me schedule appointment for alignment. Basically the alignement is such that when on the freeway I just let go of the steering wheel to move to the right hand lane in a matter of 3-6 seconds. I picked it up and could tell it was doing the same still. I then read the service invoice notes which are below.

C/S VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT - SEE HISTORY
AND ADVISE.
CAMBER OUT OF SPECS ON PASS. SIDE CAUSING PULL TO RIGHT
ALIGNED VEHICLE TO SPECS. DRIFTS SLIGHTLY W/ROAD CROWN.
NORMAL FOR VEHICLE W/20 WHEELS AND TIRES.

The history part is where the service tech confirmed the pulling to the right. It still can change lanes in a matter of seconds if the steering wheel is left to its own accord. I have tried many flat roads to see if I was just crazy but it always pulls right. I have the 20inch stock rims that came with the package along w/ the stock tires. Ive never heard of 20rims/wheels normally drifting on flat roads.

Im gonna take it back again... but what do you all think?

JA

Large rims sizes are murder on an alignment....that said....I'd try a different shop....or get a 2nd opinion....I mean if it another place says the same....maybe its time for smaller rims?

I don't have that big of a problem on mine. If I let the wheel go, it will drift to the right over time. More so on a crowned road. I'd get it checked out again.
