Default Transmission not working at all.

Just a question--hoping someone can help. Changed the transmission oil and filter a few days ago and the truck was running fine. This morning, without any warning lights or other indicators, it just would not shift into gear at all. It's a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jose

What is the fluid level? (You have to check it in Neutral, not Park.) You did use ATF+4, right?

I will move this to the 3rd Gen Ram section for you (2002-2008 Rams).

Hammer, good find. I seemed to miss that other thread entirely. Now I will know what to look for if i go the wix route for trans filters.

Default Thanks, all.

Truck is back up and running. It was an issue with the filter seal. Thanks again for responding.

crap, im having this same issue after doing a drain/refill filter replacement. The really really crappy part, is I used royal Purple ATF at $12 a quart.

I'm going to go talk with the O'Rielly guys, and see if they will refund the oil cost if the filter is defective.

Why not drain and save it?

Still haven't got to it yet. I thinks its slipping, and when you start it first thing in the morning and shift into drive, it takes about 15-20 seconds for it to engage. Does this after sitting for around 8 hrs.

I have a warranty, I have my reciepts for the filter and trans fluid, so I am going to wait for total failure. When they are rebuilding it, throw a valvebody and 'verter in it before it goes back together.

Truck is a SC SB Hemi Sport with a Limited slip and a 3.92 from the factory. 66,660 miles. Did the oil, filters, trans and dif fluids at 62,000 and the plugs and wires at 64,000.
