gear upgrade

Default gear upgrade

i was wanting to upgrade my gear ratio on my 02 1500 and don't know what to get. i tow a trailer just about everyday. any suggestions?

we need to have a sticky on this topic lol. gears vs millage... search on google "gears dodge forum" you'll find lots of info.

how much weight are you pulling? whats the distance? city or highway?

i pull a 14 ft. enclosed mowers inside, mostly highway miles, and for some jobs its about 100 miles round trip

looks like you need 4.10 gearing since you do a lot of highway. if you were on the city most of the time, than i would go with 4.56.
BUT if the trailer is really heavy (9,000+) than go with 4.56s.
another thing to consider is your geological location. is there a lot of hills on the highway?
