A/C system removal
Well the other day I got the code ac compressor fan relay 1. After reading I found that the ac system need to be charged for this fan to work also. I never use my ac and when I did it was really warm so I got the fuse and the relay I put the relay in first with out charging the ac and it works I tried to charge my ac system but it wont take the can of refrigerant. So I just want to remove the hole system my questions are should I remove the system since I never use it and if I do will it mess up anything else. Will I have to set up a way to run that fan also if I remove the ac?
Actually, unless you pulled the wire to the compressor, Living in Maine, you used it every time you ran the defroster. I wouldn't recommend removing it, if its left open, unless you remove the evap coil in the hvac box inside, you ruin the system. If you do remove it, get the right fittings to cap ALL the openings, and purge them with nitrogen and seal them up so the don't rust.
I would recommend you get it fixed, if you decided to take a trip sometime South or West in the summer, you'll really appreciate the repair.

Well then why do the may a/c delete kits and bypass pulleys. To fix it will cost $300+ because it has never been serviced or charged since iv owned it. And how is the defrost part of the a/c system thought that was heat?
Yah,
The cooling system is utilized for 2 reasons during the winter months, first, the compressor is cycled to keep oil on the seal so you don't lose refrigerant, and second, the cooling is used to removed moisture in the air then reheated to dry the inside of the windshield off.
The kits are sold to eliminate the cooling equipment.
If you decide to pull it, take care of the main components, if you want to use them later, or you could E-bay them to offset teh cost of the conversion parts

I jumped in my truck today after work, the overhead read 102-----then it dropped to 98, problem is the RH is near that too
It would only take one trip South of Maine aways----and He'd be wishin he'd left it on

I'm young the heat dosnt bother me. So if I remove the hole system and put a pully I'm place of the compressor will I still have defrost? If not then can anyone tell me why the a/c system won't even take the can of refrigerant? The guage goes all the way past red and never moves yes the can is open all the way
I'm in Tucson but the truck is not a DD so had mine removed this past weekend. Few cycles and its code free. All up i would say its about 60-70lbs weight loss. Got a new belt had it routed the same way as a short belt but to include power steering.
Plugged up

Red Line is the new belt routing but for 6.1 manifold.

Does the compressor clutch ever kick in? If not, then it won't take any freon due to the pressure that is already in the system.
