Does anybody have remote radio controls?
I Own a 2004 1500 QC 4x4. The stock stereo just seems soooo faaarrr aawwaayyyy.......
Is it a factory option?
Are all of the trucks prewired for this option?
FYI - I also own a 99' Jeep grand cherokee and it has remote radio controls on the back of the steering wheel. One of them broke, and as I researched a little bit before fixing it myself for $18 I noted that ALL Jeep GC's come prewired for this option.
Just curious if dodge pre-wires for this option
Thanks

I noticed that as well. I feel like I'm reaching across the cabin to adjust the radio. I would just replace the head unit with one that comes with a remote, then when not using it just keep it in the center console. My steering wheel has cruise control buttons on it and I didn't read anything about existing remote options in the book.
I thought the same thing. The radio controls are a reach. I rplaced the stock head unit with an aftermarket one with a handheld remote. The only reason I need to touch the radio itself now is to put in a CD.
well...if you are curious about the truck being pre-wired for the buttons or not....heres one question...
Do you have switches on the back of your wheel or not? or at least dummy switches.?
If not....how could it be prewired? are you going to cut a hole in your steering wheel and start installing the controls???
All i know is...my truck came with the radio controls/infinity system. I was worried about losing the controls when i got my kenwood deck in place of the stock head unit....but of course...they make a module that allows you to use factory radio controls....cost me an extra 100 bucks but well worth it. Im not reaching across every time....and im not using a handheld remote to control something 2 feet away.

I have a alpine head unit with remote. Everyone makes fun of me.LOL I get a little nuts when i see worn buttons on radios so the remote is nice.

I've got the controls behind the steering wheel and I love it. My wife hates it when she turns it up and then I turn it back down or change the station. It's kinda fun.
As a reply to 05RamLAramie...
Just because there are no "dummy holes, or fake switches" behind my steering wheel doesn't mean it isn't pre-wired.
Just because you don't have a hitch....guess what!...you STILL HAVE THE WIRING FOR TOWING (it's just not hooked up).
The Jeep GC's are all pre-wired...so that if you want it as an option on a vehicle that is at the dealership it isn't a bitch to install for the dealer. Replace the back panels on the steering column, plug in the wires, and bang! you got yourself some remote radio controls.
Anyway...the fact that a few people have remote radio controls on the back of thier steering wheel makes me a little more hopeful.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW FOR SURE?
