cruse control problem
hi i am new here but i have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4.7 and when i turn my cruise on it will come on for about a minute then go out and i can not set it to work the truck sat for about a year and everything worked fine before i left it sit any help is greatly appreciated thx. Had the dealer check the switches in the column and they said they were working fine.
no they wanted too much to find out what it was for my budget and no codes are being thrown one other thing but i don't think it has to do with this but the cargo light does not come on when i open the door but does come on when i turn it on with the switch on the headlight switch
Mine quit after a new drivers side hub bearing was replaced. The new hub had a bad sensor. Check the wiring to the front left hub. Perhaps a critter chewed thru it.

thx but replaced both front hubs and don't have any sensors on my front hubs also this will happen even if im sitting in my driveway turn on the cruise and stays on for a little bit then shuts off like maybe 30 to 40 seconds

Well the 2002 service manual doesn't mention much at all but here it is.
The cruise indicator gives an indication to the vehicle
operator when the speed control system is turned
On, regardless of whether the speed control is
engaged. This indicator is controlled by the instrument
cluster circuit board based upon cluster programming
and electronic messages received by the
cluster from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
over the Programmable Communications Interface
(PCI) data bus. The cruise indicator is completely
controlled by the instrument cluster logic circuit, and
that logic will only allow this indicator to operate
when the instrument cluster receives a battery current
input on the fused ignition switch output (runstart)
circuit. Therefore, the indicator will always be
off when the ignition switch is in any position except
On or Start. The indicator only illuminates when it is
switched to ground by the instrument cluster circuitry.
The instrument cluster will turn on the cruise
indicator for the following reasons:
² Cruise Lamp-On Message - Each time the
cluster receives a cruise lamp-on message from the
PCM indicating the speed control system has been
turned On, the cruise indicator is illuminated. The
indicator remains illuminated until the cluster
receives a cruise lamp-off message from the PCM or
until the ignition switch is turned to the Off position,
whichever occurs first.
² Actuator Test - Each time the cluster is put
through the actuator test, the cruise indicator will be
turned on, then off again during the VFD portion of
the test to confirm the functionality of the VFD and
the cluster control circuitry.
The PCM continually monitors the speed control
switches to determine the proper outputs to the
speed control servo. The PCM then sends the proper
cruise indicator lamp-on and lamp-off messages to
the instrument cluster. For further diagnosis of the
cruise indicator or the instrument cluster circuitry
that controls the indicator, (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - DIAGNOSIS AND
TESTING). For proper diagnosis of the speed control
system, the PCM, the PCI data bus, or the electronic
message inputs to the instrument cluster that control
the cruise indicator, a DRBIIIt scan tool is required.
Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

every truck ive ever been under or worked on had at least one abs sensor which was in the drivers side hub. does your driver side spindle have a small flat piece of bracket on the riht side just above the hub?
did you just buy this truck? possible someone swapped out the hub without the sensor?
