I'm bad, I didn't see where you posted that you found the linkage. I must have skip over that and thought you were going to look for it. Thats what happens when you have CRS. ( Can't Remember Sh_t)

That's amazing that you were able to find the linkage in the road!! I would never have that luck!

Just picked up my grommets! I'll be heading outside to install them and put my linkage back in here in a few.

I'd love to get a pic of the shifter and transfer case without and then with the linkage, but my suspension lift coupled with the driveshaft is very much in the way of any type of view. I dunno if I can get much more then the shifter side, I'm gonna have a hard enough time getting up to press the grommet on the transfer case side.

But from Harrison's pic, you can clearly see where it goes and how it attaches...

and these are the little son's of b*tches that are the key to being able to shift from 2WD to 4WD!!!

What are the chances you find it in the middle of the road.. Lucky you. Glad it wasn't anything too crazy.

Well once again I can thank r6express because I would have probably tried to press them grommets in with my fingers and had a hell of a time. As in his thread, I used a set of channel locks and they literally popped right in.

It would have been a five minute install but on close inspection, that linkage shaft had a little bend in it and I stuck it in a vise to straighten it out. I guess it got run over in the road a time or two.

Truck shifts from 2WD right to 4HI & 4LO smooth as silk.

I reckon I can now chalk this up to a lesson learned...

You are never going to believe this hammer but today I reached down to put my truck in 4wd and the shifter just flopped back and forth. I thought "no way I lost my linkage, I just took a picture of that for a guy on the forums last year". Well I crawled underneath and it was gone lol got home tonight and saw the bar sitting in the driveway when I pulled in. Guess I will stop by the dealer in the morning and get some new grommets. That is just a bad design but funny that I had pictures posted of it on last year.

Do yourself a favor and attach a small piece of rope or a small chain to the linkage as a tether so you can't lose the thing. I have a piece of 120# braided fishing line on mine. I keep meaning to look for a small diameter chain to replace it with but every time I've been someplace that might have one it's completely slipped my mind...
