Default Oil consumtion???

I just went on a trip from WI to WY hunting and pulled a 3 place trailer with 3 atv's on it. I noticed when I got back that I was a quart low on oil. The truck did work it's butt off pulling threw the mountains since I have over sized tires and wasn't able to get my gears in before I left. Is this common? The truck doesn't blow the blues or anything noticable that I can see. Just seeing if this is from the hard and long drive.

It's not very common. How many miles? The oil is going somewhere, either out the tailpipe or on the ground. When was the PCV valve changed last? Are you sure it was filled properly before? Who did the oil change?

Mine has 114K on it and is just now beginning to puff blue on a cold start after sitting for a while. It pulled a horse trailer often for the first 86K or so.

The truck only has 67,000 on it. I did the oil change myself and I use Mobil 1 5w-30. There are no oil leaks and leaves no spots. I don't have a PCV valve on my truck. The area it is supposed to be it's not cut out.

check between the back of the engine and tranny, its possible that the mountain driving may have put more than the usual level of oil on the rear seal and you lost a little there, I would think that the area would be at least a little "wet". It also may have just wiped past the rings under higher rpm operation on a long drive.

Next oil change will tell.

You definitely have a PCV valve. At 67K, it needs to be cleaned at least, perhaps replaced.

If there are no leaks, it's being burned. How much oil did you use on the refill?

It should have a PCV valve, just no EGR valve.
The recommended changing interval for the PCV valve is 102K miles.

Im thinking it did burn it with the high RPM's I had when driving threw the mountains, hell she was hitting 5 grand at times.

Could well be. Monitor it for a while and see if it returns to "normal".
