Shuttering slippage
I have been having trouble with my wifes truck. When I slowely accelerate through the gears, especially when I am slowely pulling out of the low end of drive say around 50mph it will lose power and shudder. I let off the gas and it stops the shuttering. I reapply the gas a little more aggresively and it will pull out of the bottom of the gear just fine, but if I softly reapply the gas it will shutter again. If I accerate from a stop up to highway speeds, it doesn't do it at all. Only when I am slowely accelerating through the gears will it do it. No other problems other than the shuttering at low rpm/high torque conditions in drive around 50-60. Its not a clean slipping action like a transmission would give you when it is going out. Its a shuddering vibration through the drivetrain for what I assume is the transmission. Did some research and somebody mentioned plugs, wire, or coil could be arcing at low rpm/heavy load conditions. What do you guys think. No CEL, or stored codes.
Not a ram know it all I was a GM guy myself till now, are you sure its not a mis in the engine? I've had that before, a old GM fix was running a bottle of seafoam in tranny run it a few days to clean the inside and loosen varnish then change the fluid and filter and add a half bottle of seafoam to keep it clean. How many miles and what year RAM?
120K on the clock. I had the transmission serviced awhile back when the rearend went out. This is something that has gradually come about. Every once in a while it use to do it, now it does it all the time. Whenever I am pulling out of the low end of the gear around 50 mph or so, it shutters in the drivetrain, and there is no power. Out of curiousity, I have tried to accelerate through it but it won't accelerate, but only shutters at that speed. Its not until I let off the gas and reapply it that it stops. And thats only if I accelerate harder, if not it will do it again.
What year truck is it? 06-08? Hemi? Sounds like the MDS kicking in to me. Quite normal feeling when in 4cyl mode. But it should turn off if enough throttle is given.
