Default New truck has a problem.. (Update = not as Pissed)

OK guys, I am new here... Yeah I did the newbe section thing...

OK well we went to get the truck last night brand new only 13 miles on it, and the power seat switch stopped working...

Is this normal or a fluke??? It worked on Saturday when we were looking at the truck and then when we made the descision to buy it last night we went to go over it again before sitting down and running numbers and the back button stopped working. The one that raises and lowers the backside of the seat, the front 2 buttons work the way they are suposed to though, so it isn't a fuse...

Since the dealership is over an hour away we didn't get there until after 7PM (we left after work) last night and service was gone. But there are a few guys that are technically inclinded still around and they pulled out the switch and played with it and got the seat to move a little, and proclaimed the switch is bad... OK I can live with that so we bought the truck knowing it will be covered under warranty... So then we got the paper work going and the salesmen started to argue with the detailers about getting our truck done, the detail shop is an independant contractor that leaves at 9PM...

So at this point I felt crappy, we are now buying a broke truck that is dirty and the windows are sticky due to the stickers and such, and I have to drive it home that way...

But driving that Hemi, I was still happy going home... I just want to know if these switches are known to go bad or if this was a fluke..

Thanks,
John

*** EDIT ***
for the update to the Subject...

It was a fluke. When I got mine the radio didn't work. That is why it was tucked away in the corner. New amp installed the next day along with detail.

As a side note, I drove my truck home dirty as well. The way I look at it is that the detail person has a life and possibly a wife as well that he's ready to go home too. If it is an hour away barter for some gas/free stuff and clean it yourself. Since I worked where I bought it from and it was only a few miles away I dropped it off the next morning and they did a full detail including clay/polish/wax for free. It looked awesome and the paint was smooth as glass. Not to mention I got 2 tanks of gas from them. Not too bad when the fill up is $75 in So. Florida. Man, the 34 gallon tank lasts me a while but when I go to fill it up, it hurts.

Thanks that fills me with a little more confidence, I know I couldn't find posts on it by searching this site but I had to ask...

Ok we got about 3/4 tank of gas from them too because they said they had a $50 limit on the amount of gas they are allowed to put in.. We got the 34 gal. tank too... Fill ups are going to be killer, but Oh well it's a truck...

Congrats on your new ride. I think you'll love it. I also think the switch was a fluke. I ran into the same thing as far as detailing goes. They told me I could bring it back another day to have it detailed, but I prefered to do it myself. I've seen a few dealers put swirls in dark paint when detailing.

Yeah they said they are going to do the detailing next week when we take it in for the switch service, I just was getting a little scared when everything seemed to be going bad last night... Besides this is my fiance's daily driver so I was also worried about reliability issuses if it was breaking before it left the dealership...

Hmmm. I just picked up a new '05 1500 QC and it only has a 26 gallon tank. Is the larger tank an option?

By the way, I'm from Coral Springs and just moved to NJ - I can tell you that gas is lot more expensive in South Florida than the rest of the North East...

No Jersey just has the best prices in the area, I know a few people that actually pay the $3 toll for the bridge to get cheeper gas in jersey, and others that work or live there who run on fumes to get to jersey to get gas...

Oh yeah, and the larger tank is an option...

Yeah the 26 gallon is standard and the 34 gallon is like a $50 "upgrade." Your better half will enjoy her ride and should have minimal problems from here on out.

OH yeah before I get a lot of those, "It's a truck" responces.. Yes I know this it is just the principle behind it, if I did it I would be upset and say oh well it's a truck... But the point is the F'ng dealership did it... And then had the balles to ask "was that there before you brought it in?" No it is a week old truck, how the F**K would I have done this?

Oh well I just wanted to put that out there, I know the truck is going to get crap on it over time but hell, less then a week from being new and I had nothing to do with it... It just shows a total lack of respect from the dealership...
