I just noticed my Ram does not sit level in the rear. It's about 1.5" higher on the passenger side than on the driver's side. What would cause that?
It's empty, no accidents, it has air bags in the rear but they are deflated. I measured from the center of the wheel. The front is good. Tire pressure is the same on both sides.

 

Bad shock, worn torsion bar, but id check the torsion bar bolt , if you just noticed it and sat normal before. Or previous owner if applicable tried to level the front with Rear of truck

 

I had the same problem as well, and my rear axel was out of alignment. Take it to a local shop, usually those guys will take ten minutes to help you figure it out if you say you want a quote

 

Bjoern- It could be too that the previous owner tried to crank the T-bars and didn't level it out properly...

 

I thought the t-bars will only affect the front?
I'm thinking maybe when they put in the air bags they must've done something wrong. Didn't know there is a way to align the rear axle at all.

 

You're not talking about the "Dodge lean" are you? I was just looking into this yesterday because I thought my truck was leaning to the left in the back also. ( it wasn't btw, just a weird parking garage spot )
I learned about "dodge lean", which seems to effect alot of owners. Design flaw, turns out. Since the driver, fuel tank and battery all sit on the same side of the truck, over time the rear starts to sag a bit from the constant one-sided load. What you're describing seems to be fairly common from what I've read on this forum.

I went on a flat surface and measured all four corners. Actually the front and rear passenger side sits 1 inch higher than the front and rear driver's side. You could have a point there, with the gas tank and weight on the driver's side. I guess adjusting the torsion bar on the driver's side will fix that...?!

 

I suppose it should. I don't have torsion bars on my truck though. But I wonder if there would be any ramifications to not having the two sides adjusted equally. There's a couple of guys here that went as far as swapping the rear leaf springs from the left side to the right side and somehow that didn't even fix it.
Maybe someone else can chime in with their solution.

I don't know if it's possible on the rams, but I knew a guy who did a SAS and he put one of the leaf packs in backwards which accounted for a 1.5" lean. The "everything on one side" thing seems more logical though. Just an idea.

 

I found out what it was. Yes, WAS. Truck sits level again.
When I bought the truck the guy who sold it had it sitting in the same spot for three months, loaded with shingles. They must not have been loaded evenly, most of the weight on the driver's side. Now, after 1000 miles of driving, unloaded, the truck sits level again.
