4.7 rocker arm is bad
Finally figured it out after replacing many different parts.
I took the valve cover off but didnt look at it good enough the first time. The metal sounding pinging is from the rocker arm. They are all very loose you can here them rattle in the video. When it is running it is so loud.
I just picked up two from dodge. They are a different design.
The truck will bearly starts idles bad then dies.

Well I went too dodge and talked to them. I guess the rocker arms that came with the truck were a bad design and now they have a updated rocker arm replacement.
I asked what was wrong with the stock ones that came with the truck and they couldn't give any advice to why they changed the design of them.
So today I am going to replace two of them. But I am going to replace all of them later on and the lash adjusters.
My question is should I go with the stock lash adjusters or go with a aftermarket one. I notiched that on airram they are 86$ a piece which seems a lil high.
Thanks and any advice is great appreciated.

Took the valve cover off and all the rocker arms look feel loose some more then others. But none where broke or sitting on top of the head.
I cant find the problem idk what the hell to start replacing.

Anyone have any advice on how to remove these.
And if there is a aftermarket rocker arm.
Almost all of my rocker arms are loose does that mean that I have to replace all of them or is that how they are please take a look at my video. The ones that are not loose are touching the cam.

As for removing and replacing, you can download the Service Manual from the links in my signature for instructions.
As for why, its obviously worn parts but Im sorry I can be specific on which worn parts. Its not uncommon for a manufacture to revise a part and make changes to it later down the road. It happens quite a lot actually.

I did download the manual thanks it has helped a lot. My question is how do I move the camshaft by hand for I can take the rockers off. I cant seem too move them at all.
I am going to replace all the rockers and lifters but it is going to take awhile sense I am still paying this truck off right now and that money could be going to the repairs lol. I am almost thinking of getting a new motor for all the lifter and rockers its going to be around $700 and a new motor is only $1500

Here is a video of the stuck lash adjuster I just want to update on what I found. I see too many incomplete threads that truly seem like they would of lead somewhere but seems like they just found the problem and never decided to update everyone.
Now this either could of been my whole problem or some of it. Will not know untill I can afford all new rockers and lifters which how everything is going might be awhile.
Hope this was the cause for that loud knocking noise.

To the OP. I wonder if the siezed lifters are a result of bad maintenance?
A poor engine oil change regimen, would result in a lot of gunk build up etc?
I wonder what kind of a past your truck has had?
Either way, now the top of your engine is torn down, do a clean up and replace worn parts as necessary.
Can you drop the oil pan and check your engine oil sump and pickup filter as well? If the top end of your engine is sludged up, I would check the bottom end as well.
After you get it all cleaned up and running, I'd prompt for a seafoam treatment or two, to get rid of any other sludge and crap floating around your engine. Then use a quality synthetic oil and change it regularly. Syth oils are more stable and have detergents in to clean engines more efficiently than dyno oils do.

Sense I have had the truck back in Nov I have ran red line full syn in it. The engine oil is getting cleaner then when I first got it. There was some a little bit in where the lifters go but not in the top end anywhere I could see. Also there is none in the pan either. But I am guessing this problem was from the previous owner because I have taken really good care of this truck.
As you can tell I am willing to tear into it to find a problem. So I am going to do the best I can to get the top end rebuilt and see how much more life I can get out of the truck.
The cam lobes seem a little wore on some cylinders. I know that I will not know 100% unless I take it out and check with a micrometer. If they are worn I might as well replace with the H.O. came there are a lot of wrecked Jeeps at the junk yards here.
I am just not sure if I should go with the stock hydro lifters or the solid ones from air ram there is a huge difference in price and im not sure if it really is worth it or not. I cant seem find any aftermarket rockers besides the newer ones from dodge.
Besides the worn lifters the engine "looks" fine no real way of telling unless I tear it all apart. I have 30 days till the insurance is active again on the truck which gives me some time to get more money for parts and really decide what i would like too do.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Truck could use some more get up and go so new cams would be nice.
