noisy power steering
Is it normal to have a noisy power steering system in these things? It almost sounds like pump whine but a little less of a squeel that you normally get when a pump is low on fluid...
I checked the fluid and everything looks good there, now I am just wondering if this is normal, but I don't think so because it is loud as hell... My fiance can hear when I am parking when she is in the house with the doors and windows closed. It started showing up every once in a while at about 400 miles, the truck now has 850 miles and does it almost constantly when the wheel is turned in either direction...
I am already having issues with the dealership I bought the truck at, and don't know if I should add it to the stuff the need to fix or let them fix their stuff, and tak the truck to another dealership for all other repairs...
BTW, read the link in my sig if you don't already know what my problems with the dealership are.

I knowwhat you are saying about full lock, but this makes that noise (about what you expect at full lock) whenever the wheel is turned even if it is turned slightly past 80* or so. Meaning if you drew a line at the top of the wheel and turned the wheel to the left or right past ~ 80* or 2:30/9:30 on a clock, it makes that same sound that most make when they are at full lock. I was just wondering if this is normal due to the fact that it is a truck.
Did you get this resolved? I have a 04 Ram 2500 Cummins (40k miles on it), and am having the same problem. I get the noise after first starting it up, up until about 15 minutes after it has been started. Then it stops. Fluid level is full, belt is good. I get the noise at idle, slow engine speeds when initiating a turn (both left and right) from 12 o'clock to 9 o'clock and to 3 o'clock positions.

Hmm, where's the bleed srew? J/K. When I do the steering pump flush I just move the wheels lock to lock a few times and it is supposed to bleed the system. I wonder how they did yours?
Glad you posted on this. My truck is new - about 5 weeks old (1700 miles), and I've been noticing what I think is excessive noise coming from the power steering at angles well short of full lock. May take the truck in and have the dealer take a look.
My truck has 800 miles on the clock and it just started doing it. Its not loud but I can feel it and hear it and it bugs me. It sounds like a high frequency hum. Man, when I went to check the fluid level there was a sharp popping sound when I took the cap off. That humming sound makes me believe that not enough oil got to certain moving parts. I am around hydraulics all day and if a machine started making a noise like that it needs to be repaired/replaced- No two ways about it. Lets see what the dealership says on Monday.
