Default Whistling/hiss from motor

2005 Hemi 1500. Got a new sound in the engine compartment. Sound like almost a whistle or whine when under acceleration. Almost sounds like a SC. No air intake leaks, thinking maybe egr or pcv valve if it has one. Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a bad pulley or a loose belt somewhere....

Could also be your transmission.

1) Check the slack (or lack thereof) in the belts

2) Check Trans Fluid (might want to change it just to be safe)

3) Find exactly where the sound is coming from.

4) Check the Power Steering fluid & pump

I have the same noise. Alternator bearing is what mine is. Been doing it for 100k. I tell everyone it has a super charger LOL.

Inteteresting comments. Cleaned TB two days ago, new mopar alternator last year, belt has 40k on it. Does not sound like a whine that a tranny or ps pump would make. Had tranny flushed last fall so I think Im good on that end. Its only on acceleration or revving the engine. Maybe a pulley bearing, I'll have to look deeper into that.

Do you have a cai? If so you are most likely hearing the vacuum behind the butterfly in your tb pulling air past the blade.

Or a possible vacuum leak somewhere...

Information emerges..... You cleaned tb a couple months ago.. when you did, did you re use the gasket that goes between it and the intake manifold? If so, that was a no-no..

On my family of engines, which is small block mopar 318/340/360, that is the leading reason for whistle on acceleration..

I can't comprehend what I read, apparently.. if the whistle is persisting after cleaning tb TWO DAYS ago, that obviously isn't your issue, unless you missed the iac when you did it..

Another thing to look at is o2 sensors.. whatever the relation, they've been known to cause whistling too..

I reuse my gasket with no trouble at all. Get a smoker to blow a few puffs around in there and see what's sucking air If its more a whistle than a whine. What type of intake and filter?
