Default 2005 Hemi transmission problems

On cold starts, after starting the motor, if I put it in gear right away, it would not drive. If I put it back in park for a few seconds and tried again, you could feel the transmission engage and shift into gear.

On cold starts, if I let it idle for about 30-45 seconds, it'd shift into gear properly.

Took it to a transmission shop, was told the transmission had over heated and had severe damage.

Had tranny rebuilt to "2012" specs, spent $3300. Picked it up this morning, they just got back from a test drive. Drove it to work.

It sat in the lot all day and when I went to leave tonight....started it, put it in gear, and the transmission did not engage.....just as before.

Let it idle for about 30 seconds and it shifted normally.

Is that a normal trait for the 05 Hemi 5.7's?

There's a check valve in the tranny thats allowing the torque converter to drain, its not an uncommon problem. When you start the truck up, wait for a short time before you put it in gear, it will engage OK. Seems the tranny shop may have missed a few things.

Noob,

Just an FYI with regards to the TSB mentioned above, the labor time shown for the repair is under 2 hours.

If you had it rebuilt and picked it up this morning only to have it do the same thing, I wouldnt be here, I would be on the phone with the shop. They would be coming to pick it up and be pulling it back apart.

$3300 and the same issues happening..........shiiittttttttt.......not me
