Default Help. Does someone have the solution?

I need to tighten the nut but he shaft moves with it. The shaft it stripped. I've tried and adjustable wrench to hold the shaft in place while I turn the nut but it's not working. Anybody have a solution to this?

If you are replacing it anyways, take a saw and cut it off. Otherwise, A good pair of vice grips should.

An impact would spin the nut just fine, but that wasn't what I needed. I need to spin the nut while keeping the shaft from turning with it. The vice grips worked but I had to tighten them down with everything I had.
