I'm not trying to talk you I to using Fram. Use what you want and feel comfortable with. I'm simply trying to get you to think outside the box.
I agree with you to a point, but to me the positives of owning a sweet *** dodge outweigh the possible negatives of known problems like you listed. For the oil filter I don't think the positives of using a fram outweigh the negatives. The positives being saving a couple bucks the negatives being a whole range of possibilities. Yes its likely that i can use fram and have no problems (in fact i have on previous cars), but for a couple dollars a few times a year its worth it to me for the peace of mind. I'd feel like a dope if something went wrong with my rig and it ended up being bc i cheaped out for a few bucks on an oil filter. Again, I realize that it's likely there will never be a problem, and there are other instances where I choose to not pay the extra few dollars, but in this case I think it's worth it, but to each his own. I don't think anyones an idiot for using fram, if you're happy with it then by all means use it.

I totally agree with you. It's the same reason we recommend guys use 89 octane and not 87. Sure, it will work and burn, but what's 10cent a gallon more at on average of 26 gallons? $2.60? That's pennies.

Now me, I've got a 35 gallon tank but to me it's still negligible even though 93 goes in mine (and my wives Mini and my Suzuki bike)

35 gallons? Dang man! I have what I think is a 20-gal tank and I cringe at filling that thing up. Not to mention 93 octane! Be glad you don't live in California where they are hitting $6/gal!

Or the uk where it is $11.....and WOW. I didn't realise what a debate I'd start when I posted this thread.
Btw a K&N oil filter is like $25+ over here.

Don't get it twisted. I'm not glued to Fram. I use what I can get.

Yep, 35 gallons. I don't drive my truck a lot though. More at night then any other time.

@abarmby, damn son! that's expensive! I just put a k&n on my wifes yoter rav4 bc autozone had some ridiculous sale where it was basically free with 5 qts of oil. Normally it was like 15 bucks. IDK if the ram k&n is the same, but yeah theyre not cheap I guess.

@weedahoe, yeah i've got the 34 gallon (maybe it's 35? its listed in the manual as 34) tank, it's a bitch filling that baby up. Sometimes I just stop when the transaction ends, at 75 or 100 bucks depending on the gas station. But it is nice getting 500 miles out of a tank on trips! Also good analogy with the octane gas, i think it's crazy guys who spend hundreds or thousands on mods then cheap out at the gas station putting their rigs in potential danger... can't quite understand that one.
