Default Muffler/Exhaust System

I am looking to put a new muffler or new exhaust system on my truck its a 03 1500 Hemi Dodge Ram Laramie, I would like it to be heard when I step on the gas, I was recommended a Catalytic Converter-back exhaust? Instead of doing a whole new exhaust isn't a muffler easier? What kind of muffler would I be looking for?

When you buy a "Cat Back Exhaust" its almost the same as putting a muffler on.
Some companies make a couple a bends a little different after the Cat but nothing thats gonna make any difference. If you search around on here youll find alot of info

Just depends on what kind of loud you want, i personally wouldnt go with a flowmaster or anything that is just "dumped"

Cat Back Exhaust = 500 give or take
Muffler = 30-100

If you want a nice loud, low rumble, cut off the cats and stock muffler and put on a cherry bomb extreme. It is loud though.

If you want your truck to run like crap and lose power cut your Cats off.

Here is 5 pages of people trying to explain to Looka that taking your Cats off will result in Hp loss.

Its one thing to have a educated opinion but just running around tellin people to possibly break the law, and to remove a vital piece of equipment from there truck is just plain stupid. We have all proven to you several different times that removing the cats will make your truck suffer.
If the OP would have asked how do i make my truck set off car alarms with the exhaust, your answer would be appropriate.
Looka im with you the reason i even bought a Dodge is because i heard a guy running straight pipe No cat no muffler on his 03 Hemi and i was in love, I wanted the exact same thing, until i found out that it wasnt very smart and a $10,000 fine in my county. We rode around and set car alarms off all over town but at a cost to performance.

I have a single Cherry Bomb Extreme. It is loud and everyone around my town loves the way it sounds,even the guys with the rumble bees. I say go with what you like go check out dual cherry bomb extreme on dodge ram from youtube, that is my next move, single to dual

They make a good point in this about being as good as aftermarket high flow cats. The only reason to do anything with the cats would be because the stock location is no longer suitable like with a set of full length headders.

I think Old Man With A Hemi said it the best, hold up your stock Cat next to a High flow Cat and you would be surprised that they look alike

You know what flows even better than a high flow cat? No cat.
