If the issue can be duplicated for a dealer service dept. it would help the diagnosis process moving forward.
Hey Dodge CA

I took it to a Chrysler dealer. It was just the battery which was original. They said that when a battery won't charge all sorts of strange things happen to the truck, including the rev issue. I am happy to report that the truck is perfect again. Thank you.

I've got an 04 Hemi Ramble Bee (Not Rumble Bee) that I bought last week and I wanted to show my brother the ***** this truck has and I stepped on it on the highway on ramp and she wouldn't go over 4,600rpm. I turned the truck off & restarted it after 5 seconds and it worked normal....1st & second gear lit up like nuts and had the normal 5700rpm limiter.

My battery ended up being shot, -29 degrees will do that (yes minus 29 degrees outside last week!), but the battery was 8 years old so I bought a new one and in a week I've had zero problems. Park for my truck has a rev limiter of about 4500rpm.

Steves2008hemi,

Great! I'm happy to hear you were able to get the issue resolved. As your trip to the dealer has indicated, in some cases, when a battery issue is present additional stress on other components may occur, resulting in abnormal vehicle behaviour.

Glad you're able to enjoy your truck again.

Take Care,

Batteries are probably the most overlooked when trying to diagnose these problems. It's amazing that a battery can start the truck sounding perfectly fine, fooling us into thinking it's not the problem. Damn all these fickle electronics!!!

Default 2008 1500 hard to start and in limp mode low voltage code

my experience was the same as Nathan's, bad battery. I could jump the truck and it would run. intermittently it would begin limiting the RPM, which kept truck at 10 MPH. Voltage on console gage looked good. Had battery checked and it failed cranking amp test. New battery solved the issue. Simple things first...
