Yours should be better than mine as I have a 2004. Weird.

Well they're better than the ones in my E-350 work van. I run the hi beams all the time and it doesn't seem to bother oncoming traffic at all. Never had anyone flash at me.

Well that DID NOT work. It seems like it's interfering with the DRLs. I spliced into the white/green wire for the hi beams. Using the hi beams turned the Hellas on. Perfect. With only the headlights on everything good, too - Hellas are off.
But as soon as I turn the headlights off, the DRLs kick in and seem to send very little volts thru the hi beam wire, making the relay click rapdly and the Hellas turn on very dimly.

I guess there is no way around it, I have to put in a switch?!

I didn't know any of our trucks came with DRLs. Do your fog lights stay on with your high beams? If so, you could connect the relay to your fog lights instead.

I believe that spot is reserved on some trucks for the keyhole where you can manually turn on/off the passenger airbag.

all vehicles in Canada have been required to come from the factory with DRL's since 1990 i believe. Also, does anyone have a link on how to wire a wireless switch in with the garage door opener buttons like was mentioned earlier? That seems like a great idea. Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread I am not sure how you would beat the DRL's messing with the relay. I know the DRL's are just the high beams running at 50% or so, so it could be a bit tricky to beat.

Only way to beat the DRL's is to use a different trigger for the relay, or disable DRLs (which isn't legal in some states...)

Just put them on a switch and be done with it

Call around town and see if anyone has a starscan tool handy, if you find someone with one you just have to go into the country code and switch it from Canada to US. I had the dealer do this to my truck and it disables the drl's I believe (if I recall correctly) that it is in the fcm section
