My two front tires have lost a lot of tread and need to be replaced. Is it reasonable to assume I need an alignment done as well? I was quoted about around 460 dollars for the tires and 120 dollars for the alignment.

 

That all depends on the type and size of the tire. Also if 2 or 4 wheel alignment. Sounds high to me for 2 wheel alignment.

 

Definitely on the high side. The alignment is even on the high end. I've never paid more than 75 for an alignment

 

265/70/17 Firestone A/T

400 or less for 2 tires and front alignment. Their is no adjustment to align the rear so you should pay $60 at most for an alignment. And about 160 per tire.

 

also your wheel bearings may be going bad in either side on the front, having the side to side wobble bad bearings develop eats tires bad, ask me how i know. from chrysler bearings for me where 140 ea oe replacement. good luck hope it doesnt hurt your wallet too bad

So there is no need for a four wheel alignment? Would a "front wheel" alignment be sufficient for having the front two tires replaced?
