What engines will work in a 2002 RAM?

Sorry I can't be much help as I've just purchased a 2002 myself, and have been simply curious which engines would fit as a "drop-in" replacement.
I have a 4.7, but if I wanted to could I drop in a 5.7 hemi without much work/wiring?
I simply ask because as an owner of a Cougar previously it was an option to remove a V6 and drop in a V8 with very little work and wiring. This was for a 1997 model.

I read something here that mentioned the Hemi will bolt right up to the transmission, and the wiring harness will plug right into the firewall plug.
It would require the computer as well or a re-flash.
Is that accurate information?
Some of the work that needs to be done to my engine could end up costing the price of a swap, so if it were that easy then it's almost a no brainer.
I can get an 04 Hemi for $1500 which I think also includes a transmission, and I could probably work out a deal to get that price dropped or to include the wiring and computer and maybe a rad. I wouldn't be able to do it until spring though.
I read through HemiDak's thread but if I'm not mistaken his motor/wiring didn't come from an 04 Ram, but went into an 02 Ram.

you will need a donor car...
you will need wiring harnesses, the ECU, Ignition, Lock Cylinder, Keys that Match ECU's VIN, possibly new steering system (not sure if it changes with the Hemi or not.... you'll also need a whole lot of time and money for all the other little things that come with an engine swap...
Your issues really aren't all that bad... just needs some major maintenance b/c it looks to have been majorly neglected by the previous owner...

I'm actually trying to justify the Hemi for the most part because I don't like the 4.7, even though I can't technically afford it and haven't had the truck that long.
Give it a couple of years and I will probably just upgrade the truck to a newer model. As it is for right now I just want some MPG back.
I've been told around here that it's possible to get 14MPG out of these engines....that would more than satisfy me and put me right on par with my previous car.

02 ram 4.7L, installing 2006 4.7L
I tried putting a 2006 4.7L engine in my 2002 ram pickup. I replaced the crank shaft in the new engine with the crank shaft from the 02' as well as the timing sprocket. When i tried to start it, she started twice momentarily then died.
Does anyone know if there's a key component i'm missing in the new engine?
