Default another 3.7L exhaust question

My brother has an '04 V6 ram and was asking me about exhaust systems. The thing is I'm not a ram person I'm a camaro person so I told him I'd go online and get some info for him. Now I know with the camaro that the v6 exhaust tends to scream once it gets over 3000rpms and I know my brother does not want that. He wants just a nice grumble to it, he's not too much into performance. I'd like to get him a muffler (heard the slowmaster 40 series sounds good) for his birthday that's comin up. If anyone has any soundclips that would be awesome, also if someone could tell me the diameter of the stock piping that'd be appreciated as well.

I am in the same boat. I have a V6 and havent heard clips of a super 40 series on it. I am going to get it anyway, its like 50 bucks in ebay and it looks like the stock has clamps holding it together so it should be easy. I heard that the interior noise is loud but that is on hemis and v8's. Your brother will probably like the regular 40 or the 50. Check in the flowmaster web site. They have sound clips and that can give you an idea.

Cheers mate.

My buddy put a 40 series on his 350ci Chevy truck. Sounds awesome; it's so deep when it idles the sound makes your ears ring. Bet it would sound great on a 6 cylinder.

yeah with the 40 series itll sound great at idle, but once you rev it you might get a sort of "tinny" sound if you take my meaning

I have a new Dodge 1500 V6 3.7. Put a 40 Series Flowmaster on it. Sounds great at idle and around 3000 its real loud.. I am going to remove it and put on a 50 series Delta..

PIPE Diameter: pipes are 3 inches to the muffler then go down to 2.5 inches od at the muffler in, then 2.5 inches out, they then expand to 3 inchs going back. I used a 2.5 in and out muffler.

Dude, it would have been nice to hear it on a sound bite. Did you remove them already? Thanks for the info though.

So I got the 40 delta SI/SO. Like you guys said its nice at idle, with the rumble and all, but at 3000 it loses the rumble and pulses. It goes into race car mode, any higher and I think it starts to sound like a ricer. This is what you guys meant right? does it get better with time? I want pulses, I dont want to sound like a ricer (its embarrasing[sm=laughat.gif])

Eltupac, YES that is what I was refering to. The sound does not change overtime by itself. I did not like it either so I removed it an replaced the stock one.... I am waiting on more cash so I can get the 3 chamber one.... The Flowmaster site says its 30% quieter. see below... I hope it will sound better! (I like the rumble of the 40 but not the over 3000 rpm)
