03 Valve Spring!

Absolutely, but then the OP will have to tow his truck all over the place to get it done... Either way I completely agree that he should bring it elsewhere to have the work done because $12,000 is an absolutely STUPID crazy amount for a motor replacement.
Most I've ever seen one go for is like $8,000 USD, and that included a brand new fully assembled long block and all the labor required to put it in, and it even came with a nice 3 year 36k mile warranty on the motor.

Well the worst news has arrived. Valve dropped into the motor, the dealership won't rebuild it and I am looking at a new motor for 12k or a used one for 7.. That used motor has 120k miles on it and would have the same weak@ss valve springs. I have no idea what to do guys I am from alberta, Canada. Does anyone know of any reputable rebuilt engine suppliers?

Well I am getting my trucked towed home, there is no way I can justify an engine replacement through the dealership. I am on the search for an engine on my own but I have a few questions. Being that I have a 2003, do I need to search for a 2003 year hemi? I know that 2003 was the only year that the TCM is separate from the PCM but would that matter since I am using my original transmission? Should I be looking for any pre-MDS engine? The dealer was trying to tell me I need a 03 specific engine due to the way the ignition system is set up for this model year.
To lzero, could you give me the username of the Canadian dodge rep on this forum?
Thanks guys

And Yes you will need to find a 2003 Engine, PRE-MDS. Idk if you guys have Jasper Engine Dealers up there, but it might be an option for you... Good Luck on the Engine hunt though!

I would check with western auto and truck parts in calgary for a motor 4032728892. Then I would call mopac and pick up some comp cam springs and retainers (and personally I'd grab a cam at the same time) 4032720192
Then I'd call around and find someone to do the top end for you and drop it in. I'd personally use Fuel Automotive in Strathmore if I didn't do my own work (but the owner Doyle is my cousin so I am biased) but I hear good things about cetus as well

I have shopped around and found a machining/rebuild shop that is willing to remove my old engine and drop a remanufactured engine of their own in for $6000 out the door. The exact price of the engine is $4500 and $1500 in labour. You guys have it lucky in the U.S. as rebuilt hemis seem to go for less than 3k. Used hemis go for around 2k locally and that would leave me without a warranty. If this shop's warranty is legit (say 2 or 3 year? still have to confirm this), would you guys pull the trigger given my situation?? Thank god for scholarships, I could have been SOL!
Thanks
Thanks

Weed you have to understand I live in an area where its minus 15 outside all day at the moment, i dont have a heated garage, and I have final exams just around the corner. I would love to swap the engine myself; I have buddies who have done it before that could help. Simply given my situation I gotta pay a shop and the going rate seems to be 1500 bucks to do it. God I wish this happened in the summer...
