04 Dodge Ram.. SMALL catch in steering SOMETIMES.
So, Iv noticed this issue a couple times. I let my truck sit all day at work and when I go to get i n it and go home when I back up and turn the steerring wheel counter clockwise there is a SLIGHT and small area where there is a catch. After I go down the road its gone though.. Anything I need to worry about? I just had lower ball joints and sway bar links done and the truck rides so good, I just want to know you guys opinion on this if anyone else had any similar issues, its not even really TOO noticible and its just the one time, if I go down the road and get to a stop sign and turn my wheels back and forth it never does it again which is weird.
I checked the fluid and its hard to tell if its on the add line or full. It definitley goes as high as the add line, and the full line is wet but not colored wet. lol So, ill look at it in the morning again, do dodges require special dodge PS Fluid?
OK Checked fluid, its a hair above the add mark but well under the full mark, its a light pink color (or light right, almost clear) and theres a stain around the top of the power steering resevoir like its been leaking ontop, maybe it needs a new cap?
Topped it off today, I now notice that the PS pump does have a SMALL groan when I turn the wheel, it isnt loud or anything though yet. The fluid is clean though. How long can a PS pump last with a slight groan?
How long did that hold up for him? I might drive 100 miles in a weeks time so I am not going cross country. I tend to freak out when I hear a noise and replace things that still have quite a bit of life in it. lol

'bout 500 mi. Maybe longer. But those were kinda rough, heavily rutted sand road he was traveling a lot put the nail in it's coffin.
Just whatever you do, DO NOT but a reman rack. NEVER.
My dad had his reman go out within 6 months, then when they replaced it with another reman IT blew up on the test drive.
They put a new MOPAR rack on it and ate the entire cost (almost a week in the shop, my dad was pissed).

My last truck A Dakota did the same thing and dealer ship said , the steering intermediate shaft was bent?? They said the universals at the end of the shaft must have froze up and when I turned it caused the shaft to bend.. over time the universal kept failing till I had not much power steering. Check that out a new shaft fixed the issue
