Default Coolant is empty but it does not overheat?

For the pass few weeks I notice some leaks around the coolant area. Anyway today I finally decide to check the coolant and turns out is empty. It does not overheat nor any lights pop on. My truck runs fine on both around town and hwy. So why is my coolant empty and at the same time it does not overheat? I even let it idle when I check and the engine runs fine.

Just because the tank is empty doesn't mean the system is. it sits above the rad so there is still coolant in there, but if you let it continue without filling it and/or fixing the problem it WILL overheat and WILL do damage.

I' betting your heat doesn't work so well, or soon won't.
If it doesn't already, it will start to blow cold air at idle speed and only blow hot air as you give it gas.

Yep, it won't run more than fifteen or twenty minutes with no coolant. Pour in a quart or two of 50/50. That should do it.

And when you say, empty, what did you check? If you pulled the rad cap and didnt see any or feel any its likely there is still some in the rad/block but its just low

Yea I pull radiator cap and it was empty or so I thought it was empty, I did see small coolant at the bottom but not the amount it needs to cool the engine. I fillup the entire coolant 50/50 bottle which is gallon. Went down the road to McDonald's which is 5 miles and came back which total 10 miles, pop the hood and it appears it leak from the radiator cap. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the coolant overflow/fill up tanks crack.
Make sure that any leaks you see are traced directly to their point of origin.
Water leaks like this are notorious from appearing to be leaking from where they're actually not!
