This will likely turn into a bashing session on the stock LSD but for what it's worth, I use it daily for snow, ice, towing and light offroading and have no issues whatsoever. The tires get worn nice and even on each side but if you're buying a new unit anyway I see no reason not to go to an aftermarket unit.

yup, I agree with Hemi4109. I've had no issues myself. All I know is I can lay 2 strips of rubber a long ways!!!!

Yep, the Chicken Little Brigade will be along soon. Ditto on the stock unit. If you have the coin, go for it. I think I'd get the DTT myself. As for "noticeable difference", I suspect there is none.

at 125k i had no issues with my stock lsd but ended up going w/ Auburn due to good package price for the unit/4.56's/mik.

Can't beat the Detroit Products... but the OEM LSD is a solid unit for what it's designed for... you can't compare those Heavy Duty aftermarket units to the OEM b/c well they are designed for vastly different applications.

If mine ever grenades I'd prolly go with a Detroit setup

yea i was looking at the auburn lsd and its 480 and the oem is 350 so if theres really no noticeable difference between oem and aftermarket i dont see what could be wrong with saving $120.

Hi Guys,

First post here as I am helping out a friend of mine with an '04 1500 4X4, Texas Ranch Edition with 54K. He recently acquired it and needed the fluids changed. After opening the rear diff, I found part of the broken clutch pack clip in the carrier.

The other end of the clip is coming out and lightly rubbing the right diff bearing journal.

After searchin I have found this is a known issue with these rear axles. I was just hoping not to have to do the bearings, but after searching, it looks like a complete rebuild is in order.

So I guess this newbie gets to start the stock LSD bashing. Obvious POS!
