A tip I got from a gas station owner that I know:
Don't top up the pump to an even dollar number, when the pump clicks, hang it up. He said that some pumps will charge you even though most of the fuel isn't getting to your tank.
I dunno how true that is, but he's a good guy, so I trust what he says.

My 04 Hemi does this too. When I fill it up at the gas station I call it good after the first time the nozzle shuts off. Haven't had a problem since. I sorta want to get a new fuel pump anyway. I've replaced one on an 03 Ram and it sucks... so I took the bed off.
I was told when I last smogged my Ram that my EGR might be on the way out too. Randomly i'll get a check engine light (every 2 months or so) and it disappears after a few ignition cycles. Truck performance isn't effected by it. Time to research the EGR...

Common problem for the 2002-2005 trucks has been the fuel pump check valve going bad. Now that 2006-2008's are getting older and higher in mileage it seems we are having the same problems.
Unfortunately, the pump is an entire unit and must be replaced completely. It isnt cheap either! $350 or so.
I would try not filling it up completely and see if it still does it. Then fill it up more and more until it happens. Then you'll know the fill up point. It'll save you money, well, delay the inevitable..lol

Your right about everything except for the $350 fuel pump. Orielly, autozone, and advanced all has them for 200-260 depending on the size of the fuel tank. 26 gal or 33 gal. Or Amazon has it for 60 bucks wich is the route I went a year ago and haven't had a problem with it since.
