trailer wiring question
Last thread got no replies but that's cool, consider this a sequel.
I found the old harness tucked up under the bumper. The previous owner was nice enough to strip the exposed wires and tape the ends and hide it on me.
The harness contained four wires. A thick black wire, a thin black wire, and two other ones, I think a yellow and a white. The yellow and white I identified as left and right turn which act as the brake lights as well, the thin black is a ground, and the thick black also appears to be a ground. Clearly this is a pinout for a 4-flat. Didn't these come from the factory with a 7-blade? Where are the rest of the wires for reverse, tail, trailer brake, etc?

The 7 pin comes as part of the factory tow package. All come with the 4 prong wiring (with connector) tied up around the hitch tubing.
The small black one should be the tail light power for both sides. The large one should be ground and like you stated, the yellow and white are for turn/brake lights.

Mine has the 7 pin with tow package...Which wire should be constant 12v +, LB??? on the back of the 7pin, theres a female 10pin, and a male 10pin on the mail 10pin, I have only 8 wires, if you start with number one being on the top left and ending with 5 on top right, then 6-10 from left to right on the bottom
mine is currently 1. nothing
2. LB
3. Black
4. black
5. yellow/pink (tracer)
6. dead or empty like 1
7white/pink 12-14gauge wire
8purple/black
9. White/pink 16gauge
10. Black/Orange
All my lights work, along with my trailer brakes, my issue is that I do not have a constant 12v, which is the 1 O'clock position on the 7 pin. just dont know what wire it matchs on the 10pin side.

The truck probably doesn't have the full wiring. Mine came with a 4-pin and I got the rest of the wiring harness from Dodge. Even then, I had to take the left rear light out to solder onto a wire for the reverse lights. I think they have a couple options for harnesses, get the one that comes with the brake controller connector if you intend to have electric brakes. The harness will also give you the constant 12V, it goes all the way back to the battery. I thought the door flap in the bumper has the wiring pin-outs molded into it?

A shorter Simple Answer to what you ask in the first place not getting off on the 7 way that you didn't even ask about yes that no#4 wire should be marker lights and color does not play a factor in this because it all depends on what the last owner had laying around to wire it up but yes standard wiring color is brown for marker lights on my truck the marker lights wire at taillight plug is a white wire with yellow stripe
White Wire: Ground
Green wire: Stop/left Turn
yellow wire: stop/right turn
brown wire: Marker Lights

Hey all, I appreciate the responses but this issue was solved many months ago. I've got a new bumper on with a proper 7 pin connector, all wired up. Been towing with it for a while now actually.
