Default What would happen if a coil pack/plug went "out"?

Would the CEL come on? Would it change the sound of the exhaust?

I'm just asking because suddenly my exhaust sounds different....almost more "airy" if that makes sense.
I honestly don't know how it's changed all I know is that it DOES sound different, on top of that I suddenly have some weird vibrations coming from somewhere at speeds 80Kph+ and it gets worse the faster I go.

a coil pack or plug is my only suspicion right now.

year/motor?

If a coil pack went out it would have a dead cylinder. It would idle like crap and the CEL would flash.

It's quite possible you may have blown out one of the catalytic converters. How many miles?

You'd definitely get a misfire code if a coil pack went south.

there is no distinctive noise, the exhaust just gets a little less restricted. Im far from positive thats whats wrong, thats just my best guess for a sudden airy exhaust note.

Are you running an after market muffler? Is it a glass pack? And how many miles on your tires since you last balanced them?

Found the problem a while ago.

The long piece of flexi pipe I had one there rusted, opened up and eventually fell off.

This is why the sound changed.
