Default Brake upgrade after lift?

I dont have a lift on my truck yet but was wondering if any of you guys do brake upgrades after you lift your truck. I have a 2500 so it is already more heavy as compared to a 1500 and a lift and bigger tires will really be hard on the brakes. I am planning on doing a 4 or 5 in lift with 35's - 37's

I was looking at the Baer break systems but they are very expensive I am not sure of other good brands out there. I would look to get some in the front if I could eventually afford them.

But what have you guys done?
Is it needed?
Would the stock calipers be fine?
Would better rotors and pads be ok with stock?

I feel like this is something that isnt talked about much and I just want to plan ahead for the future. Thanks

With a 2500 you shouldn't have a problem with braking ability regardless of lift and tires.

If you want to upgrade to better pads and some drilled or slotted rotors to help with heat dissipation I can see that, but I don't think it's necessary to go with the aftermarket 4 and 6 piston caliper setups.

Look into powerslot rotors and Hawk LTS pads. Available on summit.

Another option rather than spending an arm and a leg on 6 pot calipers etc, is to mod your truck with a hydroboost system.
This I believe utilises the stock breaks but has a diesel hydro boost system.
I don't know too much about it but, a moderator on here called Weedahoe has a "how to" article on it in his profile.
I believe the system gives incredible braking. Much more than a break upgrade and is also cheaper than the 6 pot Baer breaks etched.
Just an alternative for you.

Hydroboost does not actually improve braking power, it just increases the force you can supply to the pedal more than a vacuum booster. Under heavy braking it feels like you're stopping better because the booster is doing more work.

I believe so.
I think I remember weed saying his truck stopped sooner.
I have personally upgraded my brakes by using EBC slotted and grooved rotors along with EBC P6000 green stuff pads. I also replaced my calipers for new stock OEM ones as my old set were needing rebuilds etc.
Although I think and I repeat think. they stopped me slightly better than stock brakes, the amount I spent on the upgrade didn't reflect a noticeable difference in my stopping power.
Maybe the 6 pot Baer calipers would be better at giving significant stopping improvements compared to price, because rotor and pad upgrades IMHO dont??

Well my rotors have definitely began to warp after my lift so I know where you're coming from with your question. Idk if they make them for the 2500 but brakemotive on ebay makes some great rotors for our trucks and for cheap. You get drilled and slotted rotors plus ceramic pads for about 250. And they're good quality too from what I've seen. As soon as I save up enough I'm gonna buy those

Yes because the 2500 is a Heavy Duty truck so the brakes are "upgraded" if you will from the factory
