Yes and get it fixed ASAP! I wasn't so lucky as the broken valve spring in my 03 hemi gave me no warning before catastrophic engine failure. The spring broke and the valve immediately dropped into the engine... Save yourself the 7000 dollar headache and fix it immediately, change them all out

Yup, and you'd be REAL smart if you pulled all the exhaust springs and replaced them all with 6.1 springs before you drop a valve and have to replace a detonated engine-----yes it has happened, you got REAL lucky.

Default Re: Valve springs

Fix it immediately! I had a valve spring break, and the result was a hole in the cylinder. I used Comp cams Beehive valve springs and new pushrods. The springs were less than $200 and the pushrods were about $180. Since I had a place to rebuild the motor, I only spent about $3500... It hurt, too. But then, I went big, since I was already there.

What noise lead you to a broken valve spring.. I have an 04 5.7 in a Ram and I have this noise sounding like "valves pinging" under a load at higher rpm.. Started removing the engine and found broken manifold bolts and RH side manifold us cracked... Is this my noise or is it a broken valve spring?

That's a good place to start, but if you're concerned you might have a broken spring, pull the cover, way easier than pulling the engine.

The noticeable sound from my engine was a dead miss on cylinder #7, and lack of power. Since these have two plugs per cylinder (yes I made mine to fire at the same time in the same cylinder, no cross engine firing) a dead miss on one of the cylinders was an unwelcome sound.
