Default 30,000 miles service, rear dif is F%@KED!

So I was doing a 30k service on my 08 and when I pulled the rear diff cover off it was full of teeth from the spider gears. My question is, will my lifetime powertrain warantee be voided if I roll into the stealership with my 35 inch Trail Grapplers on the truck?

And if they dont cover it anyone have any recomendation of what I should replace the junk stock **** with? I obviously wont spend my own monies to put the garbage OEM stuff back in there!

Every other tooth was broke off like this one, and the ones that wernt broke off yet are all cracked.

They will have to 100% prove that your tires were to blame... and as long as they are DOT rated you shouldn't have a single problem.

It would be interesting if they would have pointed it out if they serviced the diff.

I bet they are just as half assed as Jiffy Lube and would have sucked the fluid out and replaced it with the new! They never would have noticed anything. Thats why I did it myself. I know the diff on this truck is a known weakness and I beat the crap out of it so I wanted to see for myself, and sure as ****.

I just dropped it off at the dealership, I will keep you guys updated.

Nope not one bit of anything to make me think anything was wrong. And there were no real shavings to speak of really, it was all chunks of teeth and they were all stuck to the magnet in the bottom just like you would think they should be. LoL The fluid was a bit nasty but not to bad. I am guessing between the one tire fires and the dropping off curbs on the gas is probably what has done it in.

Well, sir, that is what happens when you misbehave and treat your truck badly.

What usually causes that is when you spin the tires on dirt then hit asfault and when it hooks up teeth will break..on any rear end.. good or bad.. 08 differential 9.25 isn’t a great rear end,, but the posi clip problem was fixed by that point .. which was the main reason the 9.25 had such a bad rap.

You just learned why you shouldn't do that.
